What is the Research Centre for Gender Equality (KETHI) ?

A few words about KETHI

The Research Centre for Gender Equality (KETHI) is a Legal Entity under Private Law of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (General Government Body), which was founded in 1994, supervised by the General Secretariat for Family Policy and Gender Equality and is governed by a five-member Administrative Board.

  • KETHI is activated dynamically in the promotion of gender equality in all sectors: social, political, cultural and economic life. Its aim is mainly on the elimination of gender discriminations and inequalities.
  • KETHI promotes gender mainstreaming in all policies and actions, as well as the enhancement of positive actions for women, so as to contribute to the elimination of gender discriminations, stereotypes and inequalities.
  • KETHI implements national policies and and institutional interventions aiming at promoting  gender equality, as well as eliminating gender gaps into private and public life.

Objectives

  • Support women who suffer from gender-based violence and/or multiple discriminations by providing counseling services.
  • Enhance scientific knowledge by conducting researches and studies in the field of gender equality.

  • Eliminate gender discrimination and inequalities, as well as strengthen women's position through planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating action plans.

  • Develop actions on gender equality issues at work, entrepreneurship and social inclusion, through the provision of documentation and information.

  • Promote gender mainstreaming through the implementation of gender training activities.

  • Promote gender equality, taking into considaretion the dimensions of multiculturalism by undertaking relevant initiatives.

  • Offer scientific and technical expertise in counseling for women and socially vulnerable groups, with a gender perspective.

Εργάζεται εδώ και 25 χρόνια στον ιδιωτικό τομέα ως ειδικός σύμβουλος στον κλάδο ζωής σε ασφαλιστική εταιρία και έχει παρακολουθήσει σεμινάρια σχετικά με το εργασιακό της περιβάλλον.

Συμμετέχει σε διάφορες κοινωνικές δράσεις και προγράμματα εθελοντισμού.

Είναι παντρεμένη και έχει 2 κόρες.

Criminologist

Elena Syrmali is a criminologist, focused on research. She is a scientific associate and researcher inPanteion University’s Criminology Lab, a PhD candidate in Criminology, while she is about to get her second master’s degree in Forensic Psychiatry.

She is also Vice President of the Union of Alumnus of Panteion’s Criminology Department and a member of the Hellenic Society of Criminology.

Her bachelor’s degree is in Psychologyand following that, MsSyrmali participated in many special training programs in clinical-social psychology and addiction psychology.

She has published many scientific articlesand studies.  She is a fluent English and German speakerand a mother of two.

Christodoulos I. Konstantinidis was born in Athens in 1963. He graduated from the Varvakeio Standard School. He studied at the Law School of the University of Athens. He worked in the Private Sector where he distinguished himself, taking positions of responsibility. He has experience in service reorganization studies and business plans. He practiced law as a member of the Piraeus Bar Association, with a specialization in Civil and Commercial Law. He graduated with an excellent grade from the postgraduate program Social Protection Law of the Law School of the University of Athens. He also holds two master degrees from the Athens University of Economics and Business (Executive MBA) and the University of Piraeus (LLM, Law and Economics). He is married and the father of a daughter.

ChristoforosDizos is a Secondary Education teacher with a specialty in Physics Introduction. He has worked at all levels in Public Education (up to Tertiary) and has been involved for decades with sports, politics, and the Local government, the trade unionist, having served for years President, Vice President General Secretary in Sports, Cultural, Trade Union Associations, and organizations, as in Panhellenic Scientific Associations. Also, he is the Vice President of the Panhellenic Association of Physical Education Graduates (PAPEG). Member of the secondary school committee of the Municipality of Piraeus (9 years) where he also served as Secretary. He participated for seven years in Central Committees of Ministry of Education for the organization of School Sports, he was elected to the Local Government, as well as in the service council of the secondary education of Piraeus.
